Date: April 17, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Dear Contra Costa Business Community,
This year, Walnut Creek is taking a fresh, community-centered approach to celebrating Earth Day, and we would love for you to be part of it.
Sustainable Walnut Creek, in collaboration with the City of Walnut Creek, is hosting an Earth Day Celebration & Green Movie Night on April 17 from 6-9 p.m.
The evening will feature a screening of The Story of Plastic, a compelling documentary exploring the global plastic pollution crisis and the solutions communities and businesses are advancing. We are especially excited to bring together local businesses, restaurants, and community members to:
- Showcase local sustainability efforts
- Inspire practical, business-friendly actions to reduce waste
Guests are invited to arrive early for light refreshments and community tabling, and to stay after the film for a panel discussion focused on local solutions and actionable next steps.
???? We would love your support, whether by:
- Attending the event
- Sharing it with your customers or network
- Participating as a local business voice in sustainability efforts
The event is free, but an RSVP is requested to secure a seat.

Pledge to be Idle Free!
Looking for an easy way to save money? Be “idle free!” Using your auto stop-start feature can reduce fuel consumption by as much as 8%. With gas prices hovering around $5 per gallon, that adds up fast! For more on this, check out this article by Road and Track.
If your car does not have the auto stop-start feature, simply turn off your car’s engine whenever you’ll be waiting more than 30 seconds, other than while in traffic. Idling happens while waiting for curbside pickup, picking up kids from school or activities, going through a car wash, or meeting someone at the BART station. Reducing your idle time will save you money, save gas, and help Spare the Air!
